A Forbidden Romance and a Shocking Mystery at Danvers Asylum.

A young woman awakens in the infamous Danvers Asylum. They call her "Grace." She has no memory of her past, no idea who she is or how she got there. Her only possessions are the asylum's rough-spun clothes and two chilling, unexplainable fragments: a single address for a famous Titanic survivor, Miss Elise Fairchild, and a recurring, passionate dream of a desperate kiss in a dark linen closet.

A brilliant young doctor, new to the asylum's archaic methods, believes she is sane. Their secret, forbidden romance becomes her only lifeline... and his greatest risk. In the shadowed halls of Danvers Asylum, everyone has a secret. As Grace searches for her past, she is drawn into a shocking mystery. Who is she? And who at Danvers will do anything to keep the truth buried?

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "I'm a sucker for a good story, and the one in The Asylum Letters is great. It's a desperate, secret, and incredibly dangerous connection between two people in an impossible situation. You can feel the risk in every word they exchange. I am rooting for Grace and Dr. Keller! It's a beautiful, flickering light in the middle of a very dark and suspenseful story." — Sarah K.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "I'll be honest, I let my first letter sit on the counter for like a week. When I finally opened it, I was stunned. I was in the story in five minutes. The first letter from "Grace" was so heartbreaking, I was immediately invested." — Jessica P.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect. A story in the mail? But wow, I am completely hooked. The letters feel SO real, and I've gotten so invested in the characters' lives. The romance is heartbreaking and the mystery is really well done." — Megan D.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "I adore The Titanic Letters and was a loyal subscriber, so Christopher (the author) emailed me and offered me a spot in the group of test readers for The Asylum Letters. I was so delighted to see the connection with Elise Fairchild, which is such a rewarding touch for fans. But honestly? The Asylum Letters is on another level. It's so much darker, more mature, and the psychological suspense is just incredible. The confined, claustrophobic setting of the asylum makes the stakes feel so much higher. The forbidden romance is more dangerous, and the mystery feels more personal. It's a brilliant evolution of the format." — Emily R.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "I am absolutely captivated by The Asylum Letters. My job requires me to be on a screen all day, and I've found it so hard to unwind and get lost in a book. This experience is the antidote. The fun of receiving a physical envelope, of holding the letters and the inserts in my hands, is something I didn't know I was missing. The story itself is slow-burn suspense. I feel so deeply for Cordelia and her terrifying situation." — Brenda S.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Who killed [redacted]?! I NEED to know! The central mystery is so good, with so many plausible suspects. I'm constantly changing my mind. " — Mark T.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "I took a chance on this and it's blown me away. The storytelling is so rich, and getting those envelopes in the mail feels like Christmas every two weeks. The details are spot on, and I'm utterly invested in Grace's journey." — Andrea C.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "The Danvers Asylum setting is perfect. You can almost feel the cold stone walls through the letters. The romance and the mystery deepens with every letter, and I have so many theories about what happened to [redacted]. A fantastic experience." — Carter T.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "I had high hopes for this, and it has exceeded every single one. The writing is wonderful, perfectly capturing the 1920s tone and the oppressive atmosphere of the Danvers Asylum. You can feel the cold in Grace's room, you can hear the whispers in the hall. The mystery part is unfolding so deliberately and cleverly. The amnesia plot is just genius, as we are discovering her past right alongside her. It's haunting and beautiful." — Valerie G.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "I need to talk about the quality of the letters and items. I don't know how they do it. Everything feels so real. This attention to detail is what makes the story so immersive. You're not just reading about Grace's world, you're holding pieces of it. It's clear that this is a passion project, and it makes the experience so much richer." — Teresa A.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "The "whodunnit" of the mystery part of the story is great, but the real mystery for me is Grace's past. The amnesia plot is just so compelling. Who was she? Why was she really committed? Every time she has a flash of memory like a song, a face, or the smell of the ocean, I get chills. We are solving the mystery of her identity right along with her, and it's a brilliant narrative device. The fact that the staff is lying to her adds to the whole experience." — Morgan S.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "I feel like I know these characters. The writing for the side characters is just as strong as for the main ones. I have such a soft spot for Walter, the quiet veteran in the greenhouse, and Samuel, the artist. Even the flapper, Zaz, is more than just a caricature. Each one has a distinct voice and a tragic backstory. It makes the asylum feel like a real place (actually it WAS a real place), and it also makes the mystery that much more interesting, because any of them could have had a motive." — Lori F.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "This is going to sound crazy, but the story and the items are so realistic that I actually had to Google the main characters just to be 100% sure they weren't real people from 1926. That is how immersive this experience is. The author has blurred the line between fiction and reality in the most artful way." — Alex R.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Most books, I read them, I enjoy them, I put them on the shelf and forget them. This is different. Because it unfolds over time, the story becomes a part of your life. I find myself thinking about Grace on my drive to work. I wonder what Dr. Keller is going to do. I look at the old photos of the asylum I have pinned to my corkboard. It's a story that lives and breathes. I know for a fact that this is one I will never forget." — Carrie H.

A Message from Christopher

The Asylum Letters is a work of fiction, but most of the locations and characters are based on actual people who were patients or staff members at Danvers Asylum. I have worked hard to be historically accurate whenever possible, but I did take some literary license to fictionalize some historical details to advance the storyline. My goal in creating story letters like The Asylum Letters is to entertain, and in no way do I intend disrespect to the real people who lived and worked at Danvers Asylum. We continue to honor their memory.
